Dongfeng Nissan becomes top car seller in China last month
Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co, a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Automobile Co Ltd and Japan's Nissan Motor, sold 43,000 vehicles in January, representing a year-on-year growth of 10%, the China Daily reported yesterday, citing statistics from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
CAAM noted that Dongfeng Nissan was the top seller last month, surpassing Shanghai Volkswagen Automobile Co Ltd, a 50-50 joint venture between Volkswagen Group and the Shanghai Automobile Industry Corp (SAIC). Shanghai VW sold 40,000 units last month.
Dongfeng earlier said that the company aims to increase its annual sales revenue from RMB 59.32 billion in 2007 to RMB 100 billion by 2012, according to sources. Meanwhile, Nissan Motor also said that it expects to raise its car sales by 4.6% to 570,000 units this year.
