Beiqi Foton's Feb sales rise 10.6 pct

China truck maker Beiqi Foton Motor Co, a partner of Germany's Daimler AG, said its vehicle unit sales in February rose 10.6 percent from a year earlier.

Beiqi Foton sold 45,102 vehicles last month, up 131 percent from the previous month, the company said in a filing to the stock exchange.

Sales of light trucks, its main product, rose 20.8 percent from a year earlier to 40,464 units last month.

In January, Beiqi Foton and Daimler signed an agreement for a joint venture in China that would start producing diesel engines in 2011 and trucks in 2012, with annual heavy-duty truck sales projected at 100,000 units from 2012 to 2015
