Dongfeng Makes Debut In Malaysian Mart
Dongfeng, the China-made commercial vehicle, made its entry into the Malaysian market with the launch of two new models.
Franchise holder of Dongfeng, Exen Sdn Bhd, said the models -- Dongfeng Bison 260 and Dongfeng Kinland 420 6 times four prime mover -- were assembled in Kulim.

Exen chairman, Datuk Mohammadiah M. Zazuli, said the two models would be distributed by Quasar Industrial Vehicles.

"Currrently, there are already 24 units in the market. We have received a very encouraging response," he said at the launch of the vehicles by Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat here today.
Mohammadiah said the company planned to make Malaysia the export hub for Dongfeng vehicles to Thailand and Indonesia.
Chairman of Quasar, Datuk Ling Keak Ming, said Dongfeng Bison 260, with engine technology from US, would be priced at RM138,000 while Dongfeng Kinland, with engine technology from France, at between RM280,000 and RM300,000.
Earlier, speaking at the launch of the vehicles, Ong said Malaysia could be used as a hub for exports to Association of South-East Asian Nations and Middle East.
He urged those involved in the transport industry, especially cargo operators, to look for new markets.
In line with the current global economic downturn, Ong said, cargo capacity in Port Klang for the first two months of this year has declined by 15 percent as compared with the corresponding period last year.
On Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) plan to meet the Khazakhstan government to discuss the resumption of the operations of The International Airport Astana, Ong said he would MAHB on this issue.
MAHB has managed the airport since 2007, but recently there were reports on MAHB's effectiveness in managing it.
