Dongfeng Motor To Invest CNY6.5b To Setup Three Plants In China
(Chinatrucks.com, September 28, 2009)China-based automotive joint venture, Dongfeng Motor Company (DFL), which was co-founded by Dongfeng Motor and Nissan Motor, plans to invest CNY6.5 billion to construct three new plants in China, reported TRADING MARKETS.
The joint venture, in order to achieve the 2012 sales target of one million vehicles ahead of schedule, plans to construct three facilities in Guangzhou, Shiyan and Zhengzhou.
The joint venture has been assured by Nissan Motor to provide a strong fund support, in order to ensure growth in China. Nissan Motor's major technologies are expected to be introduced into Dongfeng Motor shortly.
Reportedly, during the first eight months of 2009, the company has sold 562,000 vehicles, with a 16% growth year on year, and its total sales volume of its passenger cars raised by 47% to approximately 350,000. In August 2009, the JV sold approximately 77,000 cars, a 68% increase from a year ago, said the source.
DFL, the Wuhan-headquartered automotive JV enterprise, offers a series of trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles. The Dongfeng brand is used for its commercial vehicles and the Nissan brand is used for passenger vehicles.
