Dongfeng Motor eyeing high-end light-duty truck market
(chinatrucks.com, Nov. 16, 2009)Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM) aims to take the preemptive opportunity in the Chinese high-end light-duty truck market through the promotion of Cabstar by its joint venture Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd.
Cabstar is the first high-end light-duty truck model released by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in China, with a price range from CNY 139,800 to CNY 152,800.
Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL) Vice President Zhu Fushou believes that the Chinese market will have a demand for 60,000 vehicles to 100,000 vehicles of high-end light-duty trucks in 2010. Hence, Zhengzhou Nissan's sales target for Cabstar is 20,000 vehicles per year.
From 2009 to 2010, Zhengzhou Nissan will also launch a CDV (Commercial Domestic Vehicle) model NV200, through the promotion of which the company hopes to boost its sales and obtain synergy with its majority shareholder Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) in terms of R&D, procurement, and manufacturing.
