Taiwan confirms Sinotruk to set up export base there
(chinatruck.com, April 20, 2010) The earliest information of “Sinotruk is to establish export base in Taiwan” comes from “China Economy Daily” dated April 9th. “High management level of Sinotruk inspected investment environment of Taiwan last year, and has a strong will to invest in Taiwan, and expand American market by the cooperation with Taiwan.” quoted by the article in “China Economy Daily”.
Another article dated April 12 in Dow Jones Newswires said that, “Sinotruk decided to set up factory in Taiwan, and the autos produced will be delivered to Europe and America.” It is analyzed that Sinotruk is planning to hit Southeast Asia market and Europe＆America market with the help of MAN since Sinotruk has cooperated with MAN last year.
At present, domestic heavy truck capacity is around 1 million; however, inland market capacity of 2010 is 750,000, and there is some capacity surplus. Taiwan dose not manufacture truck at the moment and it fully depends on import.
Sinotruk is to establish manufacturing factory in Taiwan base on complete technology in Taiwan, and steel as well as auto parts and components supply chain.
