Foton plans to establish new plant in Mexico
(chinatrucks.com, May 31, 2010) Foton will expand overseas partners of KD since 2010 according to the plan. The original export mode of completely vehicle will shift to plant establishment at the local. First step, the KD partners will be increased from 4 to 15 in 2010, and sales volume of KD mode has been increased over 30%. Secondly, the wholly-owned enterprise or joint adventure equipped with after-sale service system will be set up overseas in next two years.
Mexico is the trial point of wholly-owned enterprise. Foton also plans to establish wholly-owned enterprises in India, Brazil, Thailand, and Russia.
The overseas export mode of Chinese enterprises has been trapped into “opportunism” in last years. They have no unified decision and long term plan. However, lots of enterprises have gained new market while lost maintained market.
At present, Foton is finding a new overseas way from completely vehicle export to KD partner search, and to the establishment of wholly-owned enterprise at local place.
