China trucks enters ASEAN markets gradually
www.chinatrucks.com: Cheap labor and fast growing auto markets enables Thailand as bridgehead to entering Southeast markets. However, market shares of China auto only takes 0.4% in Thailand. Dongfeng tries localized production of trucks in Thailand, and some industry insiders say that it will take ten years for China auto company to explore the market.
Dongfeng finances 3.2 million USD to build the first auto plant in Thailand, said Chen Junyi, president of Dongfeng Auto Thailand Company.
The annual output are 5,000 trucks, which is bold action for China truck maker to expand Thai market.
3,209 China auto were sold in Thai in 2011, and it just takes 0.4% of Thai auto industry. 2,000 Dongfeng vehicles were sold, and these are mainly small trucks, coaches and seven-seat SUVs. After localization in Thailand, sales of Dongfeng vehicles will amount to 3,000 units in 2012.
