In 2009, MAN invested €560m (US$806m) in Sinotruk and has a direct interest in the Chinese manufacturer with a 25% stake plus one share. MAN supplied Sinotruk with technology to build trucks aimed at emerging markets. The trucks would be targeted for export to markets including Brazil, Russia, Africa and India.
In April, 2011, Sinotruk launched a new brand co-developed with German heavy commercial vehicle maker MAN SE. The brand is known internationally as SITRAK, but marketed under the name Shandeka in China. The first model, the T7H, was currently on display at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.
The brand’s logo features three stylized ginkgo leaves, symbolizing endurance and vitality in Asia. In China, the brand will be sold exclusively through Sinotruk’s dealer network, though export markets will be served by the existing sales networks of MAN and Sinotruk.
