Foton Sold 180000 Vehicles in the First Quarter, Topping the Industry
According to statistics, the sales rise of bus market in the first quarter of the year is higher than that of the last year, while, the truck market see sales rise slowing down. In all, the commercial vehicle industry is on a rise.
Foton, sales champion of the industry, grasps tight the title. The main business profit improves than last month, showing the company has bottomed out. With a comprehensive product range, the company has benefited from the cooperation of the six industry clusters. Also, the company’s effort in the new energy vehicle is worth paying attention to.
Foton tops the industry by selling 173100 vehicles, which is about 40000 more than Dongfeng, the second of the industry, has sold. The third place holder, JAC sold about half of what Foton did. Among all the vehicles sold by Foton, 27437 are middle and heavy duty trucks, a rise of 8.7%, taking 11.3% market share, a year-on-year rise of 2.1%.
The revenue of the first quarter is ¥8.4 billion. With exportation revenue included, the number will reach ¥13 billion. The profit is ¥220 million, with revenue included, is ¥350 million, a ¥140 million down from the ¥490 million of last year. As it’s analyzed, the down in profits is mainly caused by the costs of new factories. After the two new factories to be put into fully use, the profit of Foton will rise correspondently. The exporting business of Foton is worth noticing. With a 17.8% rise, the business is making ever bigger contribution to the company.
Insider said, Foton has successfully weathered the low-profiting period, as the industry is getting back on its feet, and the company structure has been optimized. The assets are also expected to grow bigger in the coming years. Many security companies are speaking positively of the company.
Foton attaches equal importance to the development of commercial vehicle-related industries. So far, Foton has six industries clusters, namely vehicles, construction machineries, new energy, financing, modern logistics and IT service.
Heavy duty machinery is the related business of middle and heavy duty truck industry; new energy battery is the core part of new energy vehicles; financing business provides strong support for vehicle marketing; modern logistic business is a necessary support for vehicle business; IT service helps promote the technology components of vehicles.
New energy vehicle is the future of the auto industry. And Foton has always been a pioneer in the course. To date, around 6000 new energy vehicles are operating in the world, among which 3908 are pure electric vehicles. The sales number grows at a average speed of 70% a year, making Foton one of the biggest makers in the world. In the 12th five year plan period, Foton will continue investing in vehicle-building, vehicle control, motor control and the application of various devices on vehicles.
Foton expects to finish the layout of products and factories by the medium term of the 12th five year plan period. The product range will be pure electric Midi, pure electric sanitation vehicle, pure electric bus. The factories will be Beijing multi purpose vehicle factory, Foton Daimler factory, AUV bus factories in Beijing and Guangdong. The total output will be 51000 units a year.
