Foton Tops the Commercial Vehicle Industry
www.chinatrucks.com :2012 was a hard year for commercial vehicle makers. However, as the China IV standards is just around the corner, the sales of China III trucks will increase accordingly.
As its shown in the quarter report, Foton sold 173100 vehicles in the first three months, among which 27000 are middle and heavy duty trucks, a rise of 8.7%. The company took 11.3% of market shares, a rise of 2.1%. Foton exported 10700 vehicles, a rise of 17.8%.
The sales revenue of Foton is ¥8.4 billion, with the revenue of Auman included, the figure could reach 13 billion.
The new factories are impacting the profits of Foton negatively. But, as the Beijing multi purpose vehicle factory and second factory of AUV bus are being put into formal operation, the profits of Foton are expected to increase.
Amid the sluggish market, Foton successfully tops the industry for the ninth consecutive year. and the company looks to benefit from the medium and high end light duty truck market.
Sales of commercial vehicles dropped 5.49% in 2012, a second year in a row to see sales drop more than 5%. This shows the industry is experiencing a historical low of the last 20 years. But, the companies are looking to other growth point, many of which have been approved by national authority. And the commercial vehicle industry, especially for middle and heavy duty trucks, will get back on its feet in 2013.
