Foton Shifts Manufacturing Focus Back to Shandong
www.chinatrucks.com: “The ‘Strategic objective Foton 2020’ is to achieve an annual production of 300 units, sales revenue of 330 billion yuan and net profits 30 billion yuan by 2020. Foton targets to become a world-class mainstream automotive manufacturer and own a world-class global market and industrial layout,” said by Zhao Yufeng, Assistant to General Manager of Foton, on the unveiling ceremony of Foton Motor Shandong (Weifang) Engineering Academy.

Manufacturing focus is shifted back to Shandong Profits in 2020 target at 30 billion yuan
Foton annual report 2012 shows the business revenue is 48.362 billion yuan in 2012. Foton plans to take eight years to increase the revenue by approximate 6 times from 48.362 billion yuan to 330 billion yuan.
In the meantime, the shift of Foton’s manufacturing base also attracts much more concerns. The company is originated from Shandong and rooted in Beijing. At recently held the unveiling ceremony of Foton Motor Shandong (Weifang) Engineering Academy & Seminar for Foton Motor 2020 Strategy, Foton says to create a biggest auto manufacturing base in Shandong worth of 10 million yuan. By 2012, Foton’s investment in Shandong has aggregated to over 15 billion yuan, including Zhucheng Auto Plant, Zhucheng Ollin Auto Plant and Shandong Multi-Purpose Auto Plant. The Zhucheng auto zone including Zhucheng Auto Plant and Zhucheng Ollin Auto Plant is so far the largest light truck production base in the world.
According to its 2020 Strategy, Foton is going to produce one million passenger vehicles and 1.3 million engines in Weifang every year. In the meantime, based on current truck business, the production will expand by 0.6 million units, leaving Zhucheng a truck production base with annual production over 1.1 million high-level trucks.
Rapid development of clean-energy city bus with constant order
In the first half year, Foton signs a big order with Beijing Public Transportation Group involving 3012 buses. The order is so far Foton AUV’s largest one but also Beijing Public Transportation Group’s largest procurement order. It is learnt that 400 buses have been put into operation.
At the end of November, Foton signs a contract with Cangzhou Public Transportation Group regarding 518 Foton AUV LNG buses. In addition, 10 Foton AUV double-deck buses put into use in Hangzhou, the first time to use large double-deck buses in ten years. There are also 300 AUV LNG city buses delivered in succession.
