Foton to Build First Overseas plant in India
www.chinatrucks.com: As the development pace is slowing down in China, BAIC Foton is exploring overseas markets, and it is learned from Foton Daimler that their first overseas plant will be built in India in the end of this year, and then they will explore Brazil, Mexico, Russia and Indonesia in the future.
BAIC Foton has been the largest commercial vehicle company for many years but their brand influence is far behind than joint ventures. According to their plan, they will sell over four million vehicles till 2020, and 30% of which will be sold for overseas markets. They have set over 20 assembly plants in overseas markets and the KD are dominated by their overseas partners so they cannot develop the most proper vehicles according to local needs.
The five plants will be fully invested by Foton Motor and they will own pressing, welding, painting and assembly to explore the local commercial vehicle markets with their best performance.
