Foton Builds Their First Overseas Plant in India
www.chinatrucks.com: With the sales of commercial vehicles decreasing in China, Foton speeds up their overseas strategy. It is learned from Foton Daimler Open Day that their first overseas plant with sole proprietorship will start to build in India in the end of this year. And then they will start similar plants in Brazil, Mexico, Russia and Indonesia.
BAIC Foton is the world largest commercial vehicles for years but its brand influence is far away from transnational auto makers and according to this sales plan, they will sell over four million vehicles by 2020, and sales in overseas markets will account for 30%. Foton has set more than 20 KD plants worldwide and this kind of plants are dominated by local dealers.
With the increasing sales, Foton overseas plants will be upgraded and the planned five plants will be fully invested by Foton Motor with pressing, welding, coating and general assembly lines to explore the world most dynamic markets.
The slower economy and upgrades of diesel emission implement shocked China commercial vehicle markets from Jan to May this year, but sales of Foton vehicles keeps increasing and their exports increased by 17% and sales of Foton Daimler high end heavy trucks increased by 15% over last year.
