Projen pays tribute to Memorial Wall of Chinese Expeditionary Force in WWII
www.chinatrucks.com: On October. 28, Projen Charity Vehicle Team arrived at Tengchong after travelling for a long distance. With great reverence to the war heroes who fought for the victory of Chinese independence during WWII in the west of Yunnan Province, the team members paid homage to the memorial grave yard for the 9,168 soldiers in Chinese Expeditionary Force.
In May 1942, Japanese invaders tramped the west of Yunnan Province. The only international transportation route to external countries (i.e. Burma) was cut off.. In May 1944, China's Expeditionary Force risked their precious lives to reclaim the lost land. The fierce battle lasted for 43 days and the Chinese army finally won the victory and regained the control of the major transportation channel. This is the first vitory of the Chinese army against the Japanese during the WWII, won at a cost of a total number of 9,168 Chinese loyal soldiers. To remember their brave deeds and patriotism, Chinese from both home and abroad donated money to build a grave yard for those war heroes. On July 7, 1945, the memorial grave yard was completed.
Over 70 years have passed. All members of Projen Charity Vehicle Team have gained a deeper understanding of the hardships experienced by those courageous soldiers during the battles in WWII. The trip has also strengthened the team's determination to carry forward national spirit and to fulfill their Chinese dream.
