NEVC-Foton New Energy Intelligent Vehicle Lab Established in Weifang
On December 18, National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center (NEVC)-Foton New Energy Intelligent Vehicle Lab (hereafter referred to as Foton Intelligent Lab), together with Foton’s new production base were officially established in Weifang, Shandong province.

After the opening of the lab, Foton will further strengthen its research & development of related technologies and promote the commercialization of new energy commercial vehicles.So far, Foton has already established five centers in Shandong province, including a state-level innovation center, the world’s biggest medium- and light-truck production center, a van production center, a vehicle financing center and a high-end engine research & development and production base. So far, Foton has already made a total investment of 20.6 billion RMB in Shandong province. In the near future, the company will inject another four billion RMB to strengthen its presence.

According to Zhang Xiyong, General Manager of BAIC Group and president of Foton, Foton’s new lab in Weifang will focus on researching and developing battery modules, PACK, electric driving axle, VCU, MCU and BMS. With a total investment of 350 million RMB, its new factory will be built in two phases. The first phase, covering 12,000 square meters, will complete construction in April, 2021. By 2025, it is expected to realize a annual sales revenue of 2.03 billion RMB.
