BYD SHARK Makes Waves in Brazil, Redefining Performance and Sustainability
BYD, the world's leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles and power batteries, made a significant splash in Brazil on October 19th with the official launch of the BYD SHARK, the first hybrid pickup to the market. The highly anticipated event in Goiânia drew more than 1000 esteemed guests, underscoring the launch's importance. This not only expands the brand’s reach into a new pickup truck market in Brazil but also extends its influence from urban environments to challenging off-road conditions.
At the heart of the BYD SHARK lies the DMO Super Hybrid Off-road Platform, a groundbreaking technology that represents a significant leap forward, expertly merging robust off-road capabilities and safety features while maintaining remarkable energy efficiency. Emphasizing safety alongside outstanding performance, the BYD SHARK incorporates the Blade Battery into a high-strength steel chassis through CTC (Cell to Chassis) technology, ensuring top-tier protection.

By combining the EHS electric hybrid system with a 1.5L turbo engine, it achieves a combined power of 437 horsepower with a combined torque of 65 KGf.m, thus allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, gaining the title of most powerful pickup truck in the country.
It is also possible to remotely manage the pickup truck through the BYD app, which offers several car functions to be performed remotely, such as starting the vehicle, activating the headlights, activating the air conditioning, unlocking the doors, adjusting seats ventilation and heating, etc.
Guided by BYD Design Director Wolfgang Egger, the BYD SHARK’s design takes inspiration from the powerful shark, seamlessly blending advanced technology with raw strength. The vehicle features full-length LED lights at the front, reminiscent of a shark’s open mouth, exuding a fierce and captivating presence. The side proportions, adorned with fluid body lines, mirror the graceful movement of a shark through deep waters. At the rear, a through-type tail light, inspired by a shark's tail fin, elegantly underscores the fusion of natural and technological aesthetics.
Tailored to meet the diverse requirements of pickup truck enthusiasts, the BYD SHARK offers enhanced expandability and extensive customizatio possibilities. With its cutting-edge VTOL functionality, it caters to a wide range of outdoor power supply needs, thereby elevating convenience and enjoyment for pickup truck owners.

Alexandre Baldy, Senior Vice President of BYD Brazil, celebrated the company’s milestones at the event, stating, “We’ve exceeded 60,000 electrified cars sold in Brazil this year, solidifying BYD's crucial role in advancing sustainable mobility in the country. The introduction of the BYD SHARK ushers in a groundbreaking new pickup truck segment, promising unparalleled quality and performance in the Brazilian market.”
The BYD SHARK’s launch in Brazil highlights BYD’s unwavering commitment to fostering the country's sustainable future across urban and off-road landscapes, emphasizing power, technology, safety, and comfort. This new endeavor strengthens BYD’s presence in Brazil and showcases its dedication to innovation and sustainability. The introduction of the BYD SHARK marks a vital milestone in promoting new energy vehicle adoption in the region, supporting the global shift toward greener travel and a more sustainable future.
