Foton Unveils All-New Xiangling V5 Mini Truck Worldwide
JINGDEZHEN, China (chinatrucks.org) — Foton Motor on Monday introduced its new global strategy and launched the Xiangling V5 mini truck in a worldwide debut held in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, as part of the company’s push to become a world-class commercial vehicle manufacturer.
The Xiangling V5 is built on a next-generation platform and is available in three powertrain options—electric, gasoline, and natural gas. Targeted at last-mile logistics markets, the vehicle is designed to meet demands for higher payload capacity and flexible use across diverse delivery scenarios.
Key technical features include a 150mm high-strength steel frame, reinforced rear axle, and a 5+2 leaf spring suspension system. The truck offers up to 90 cargo configurations, with cargo beds reaching up to 3.8 meters in length and 1.85 meters in width.
Foton says the Xiangling V5 is the first mini truck globally to feature a front double-wishbone suspension and dual-cylinder brake calipers, improving braking performance by 12.5%. Safety enhancements include a structure built with high-strength steel and energy-absorbing materials.
Aesthetic design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture, with paint colors modeled on porcelain glazes such as Lang Kiln Green and Longquan Celadon. The vehicle uses smart spray-painting technology to replicate the ceramic look and texture.
The electric version is powered by Foton’s in-house AECO battery system, which offers fast charging and enhanced durability. It also includes a battery health monitoring feature. Gasoline and natural gas versions cater to various regional markets, with the natural gas model expected in October.
During the event, Gong Haidong, Foton Motor vice president and spokesperson, outlined the company’s “Leap to World-Class” strategy, which centers on full-scale internationalization, electrification, and digitalization. Foton operates 32 localized manufacturing plants and maintains a global marketing and service network.
Foton is also investing in new energy technologies, including electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered systems. On the digital front, artificial intelligence is being deployed across its R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer service operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Pre-orders for the Xiangling V5 are now open. Prices for gasoline models start at RMB 48,888 for the 1.6L single rear wheel version and RMB 55,555 for the 2.0L dual rear wheel model. The electric model, equipped with a 55 kWh battery, starts at RMB 81,888. Early buyers who place orders before June 30 are eligible for incentives valued at over RMB 5,000, including a digital dashboard upgrade, a two-year service package, and a Foton e-home accessory kit.
Foton aims to reach annual global sales of 1 million vehicles under its three-pronged strategy, positioning itself as a leader in the next generation of clean, intelligent commercial transportation.
