Foton Delivers 150 Heavy-Duty Trucks to Industrial Customer in Ghana
ACCRA, Ghana (July 28, 2025) — According to www.chinatrucks.org, ,Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Foton Motor has delivered 150 AUMAN R heavy-duty trucks to a major industrial client in Ghana, the company’s largest single truck order in the country this year and its first cooperation with the customer.

The trucks have been deployed into active service and are part of Foton’s broader efforts to strengthen its presence in West Africa. The order represents a significant step forward in Foton’s regional expansion strategy.

The AUMAN R trucks were designed specifically for African operating conditions and are equipped with Cummins engines. According to the company, the vehicles offer roughly 5 percent improved fuel efficiency compared to similar models. Some units are fitted with ZF automatic manual transmissions (AMTs) to enhance driving comfort, efficiency and reliability.
Each vehicle includes a built-in telematics system aimed at supporting long-term fleet management. Foton said the system is provided at no additional cost to the customer.

Foton entered the Ghanaian market in 2008 and has since focused on localizing production in partnership with regional distributors. In response to Ghana’s knock-down (KD) assembly policy, the company has begun assembling a range of light commercial vehicles locally, including light trucks, mini trucks, vans and pickups.
In the first half of 2025, Foton reported a year-on-year increase of more than 500 percent in heavy-duty truck sales in Ghana. The company’s light commercial vehicle offerings continue to lead the market in overall sales volume.
The company’s new dealership in Tema, which opened earlier this year, supports its expansion in West Africa. Foton now offers the widest variety of KD-assembled vehicle types in Ghana, and its operations have generated local employment and technical training opportunities.
Foton said it plans to continue investing in local manufacturing, after-sales services, talent development and telematics technology as part of its commitment to supporting industrial and transport development in Africa.
