SANY Ships First Autonomous Mining Truck Project to South America
SANY has shipped its first autonomous mining truck project to South America, marking the company’s entry into the region’s autonomous mining market.
On August 12, a departure ceremony for SANY’s autonomous mining trucks was held at SANY Heavy Equipment’s Shenyang facility. The first batch of SKT110Ei pure electric autonomous mining trucks left the facility and is now on its way to an overseas market.
The project is the first autonomous mining truck project to be deployed in South America. It also marks the entry of China’s autonomous mining technology into the Latin American market.
Mining companies around the world are facing a shortage of skilled drivers and rising labor costs. As a result, many are looking for more automated ways to operate their mines and improve efficiency.
After evaluating several leading companies in the industry, the customer selected SANY to provide a complete autonomous mining solution.

The project includes autonomous mining trucks, a supporting dispatch system and maintenance services.
SANY’s project team studied the customer’s mining operations in detail, focusing on key issues including safety, operating costs, efficiency and worker safety. Based on the conditions of the overseas mine, SANY combined its equipment manufacturing, technology development and overseas service capabilities to provide a customized solution.
SANY’s experience with autonomous mining trucks in China also helped build the customer’s confidence in the technology.
The South American project reflects SANY’s manufacturing capabilities, global presence and long-term experience in the mining industry. It also builds on years of development and real-world testing of its autonomous mining technology.

SANY Smart Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of SANY International, focuses on the development of digital, green and smart mines. The company has developed its own autonomous driving technology, covering key areas from drive-by-wire chassis and multi-sensor perception to AI decision-making and cloud-based intelligent dispatch systems.
As of July 2026, SANY Smart Mining had deployed more than 300 autonomous mining trucks in China. The trucks are operating at large open-pit mines in regions including Inner Mongolia and Qinghai.
The trucks have accumulated more than 13 million kilometers of safe operation and transported more than 41 million cubic meters of earth and rock. This operating experience has helped test and improve the reliability of SANY’s autonomous mining technology under different working conditions.
The SKT110Ei pure electric autonomous mining truck being shipped to South America is designed for high reliability, high availability and low energy consumption. It is equipped with SANY’s self-developed autonomous driving system.

By reducing the need for human drivers, the truck can help mining companies lower operating costs and improve transport efficiency. It can also help mines move from traditional manual operations toward more automated and intelligent production.
SANY Smart Mining plans to use the South American project as a starting point for further expansion into overseas markets. The company will also draw on SANY’s global service network to provide technical support and maintenance services, helping ensure stable operation of the project.
SANY Smart Mining will continue to invest in autonomous mining technology and improve its products and solutions. The company also plans to work with mining partners around the world to support the transition toward safer, smarter, greener and more efficient mining operations.
