BAIC FOTON Ships 800 Heavy Trucks to Africa

BAIC FOTON has shipped 800 heavy trucks to Africa in a new direct-sales deal with a major customer.

The order includes 800 heavy trucks, which are being delivered as a full fleet. The vehicles will be used for cross-border logistics and long-haul transportation in Africa.

The delivery is another step in BAIC FOTON’s long-term development in the African market. The company is also moving beyond vehicle sales and expanding its business to include fleet operation solutions.

Africa is one of the world’s fastest-growing commercial vehicle markets. Southeast Africa is particularly important for cross-border logistics, as the region is connected to several major ports.

BAIC FOTON has been building its presence in the region for years and is using Southeast Africa as an important base for serving a wider market.

The trucks delivered in this order are AUMAN heavy trucks powered by the ISG380 powertrain. They support a gross vehicle weight of 56 tonnes and are designed to handle different road conditions, including highways and dirt roads.

The trucks also feature 700-liter fuel tanks and metal bumpers, which are designed for the hot and rainy conditions found in many parts of Africa.

Each truck is equipped with a dedicated CEM smart chip that provides data coverage across Africa. Even when a vehicle is operating in a remote area without a network signal, the data can be restored automatically.

The system allows fleet operators to monitor vehicle operating conditions, driving routes and fuel consumption. This can help improve fleet management and vehicle efficiency.

BAIC FOTON is also expanding its local service network in Africa. The company has established assembly plants, service outlets, parts warehouses and training centers in the region.

To support major logistics routes in Southeast Africa, BAIC FOTON has set up its own parts warehouses in South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. These warehouses allow parts to be supplied and distributed more quickly, helping reduce delays caused by parts shortages and slow maintenance support.

South Africa serves as BAIC FOTON’s main training base in the region. The company has also established training centers in key markets such as Tanzania and Ethiopia.

These centers provide regular training in technical repairs, vehicle maintenance and driving standards. The goal is to develop local service professionals and provide faster after-sales support.

The latest shipment shows how BAIC FOTON is expanding its role in Africa, from exporting vehicles to deeper local cooperation.

August 28 marks BAIC FOTON’s anniversary. The delivery of 800 heavy trucks is another sign of the company’s growing presence in Africa and recognition of its long-term investment in the market.
