Jiefang Truck Driver Highlights the Brand's Community Spirit in South Africa
On the afternoon of the 16th in South Africa, around 2:30 PM, Ansie and her daughter had a flat tire on the R42 highway. Their car broke down, and they were stranded with in the midst of whizzing traffic. Patrick, a Jiefang Trucks driver, noticed them, stopped to help, and avoided a potential disaster.
Patrick’s quick action was covered by local media like The Citizen and Beeld, and he got a lot of praise online. Jiefang Trucks also rewarded him for his kindness after they learned about its actions.

Patrick recalls that the R42 is a tough road with little traffic, rough terrain, and poor signal. When he saw the stranded car, no one else had stopped. Knowing it was risky, he still pulled over, found that the women had no tools or signal, and had been waiting over an hour. He used his tools to change the tire and made sure the car was safe to drive.

Patrick said in the interview that: "I am an employee of Symlog Logistics. I'v been worked with Symlog three years. I am driving a FAW 500. In front of me there was a car driving. I saw a car having a tire puncher and then immediately I realized that they were only two ladies inside of that car.Immediatly I had to offer my help to them because they were stranded.I went back to inside my truck and I had a moment of realization. AT that moment, I realized that it was safe for me to leave my truck unattended. Because I had trust with the security measures on my truck so that I can go and help the people in need. Overall the FAW 500 it has proven itself with safety features, measures, power, fuel efficiency and comfort. When you do a good deed, you have paid for it."
Patrick’s act of kindness shows Jiefang Trucks' commitment to community support. With 30 years in the South African market, Jiefang has recently become the market leader, surpassing brands like Mercedes and Isuzu. In July, their Coega plant set a record with 500 trucks produced, totaling 15,000. Jiefang not only makes high-performance trucks but also engages in social good, enhancing their reputation and expanding their global presence.
