FAW TRUCKS Delivers 20,000th T-Shift Transmission
FAW TRUCKS has delivered its 20,000th T-Shift transmission, marking a significant milestone in the company’s intelligent powertrain strategy. The handover ceremony was held on February 4 in Linyi, Shandong Province, bringing together company executives, partners, and customers.
The milestone highlights the rapid market adoption of FAW TRUCKS’ next-generation automated manual transmission (AMT) technology and reflects the company’s transition from technology development to large-scale commercialization in the intelligent transmission segment.
Accelerating Intelligent Powertrain Integration
In recent years, FAW TRUCKS has strengthened its vertically integrated powertrain capabilities, introducing a new generation of self-developed engines, transmissions, and axles. Together, these core components form the company’s “Intelligent Power Domain,” designed to enhance overall vehicle efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.

The T-Shift series transmission is a fully self-developed product engineered specifically for China’s road conditions and driving patterns. Since the launch of the 12-speed T-Shift AMT on June 8 last year, sales have steadily increased, supported by strong customer feedback and expanding fleet adoption.
At the ceremony, the 20,000th transmission unit was delivered to Li Wei, General Manager of Linyi Hetong. The milestone signals the successful transition of the T-Shift from initial market introduction to scaled deployment, reinforcing FAW TRUCKS’ position in the intelligent transmission market.

Smart, Reliable and Cost-Efficient
According to FAW TRUCKS’ powertrain product management team, the T-Shift transmission has demonstrated solid performance across multiple logistics applications, supported by both operational data and real-world case studies.
The product aligns with international high-end technical standards and is built around three core strengths: intelligence, durability, and fuel efficiency.

The transmission integrates eight key technologies, including predictive shifting and coordinated powertrain control, delivering smoother gear changes and optimized driving performance.
In terms of durability, the T-Shift achieves a B10 design life of 2 million kilometers. It has undergone extensive validation, including high-altitude testing at 5,000 meters and extreme temperature testing ranging from -40°C to +40°C. The model is also the world’s first heavy-duty AMT to complete full-route validation across both the G109 Qinghai-Tibet Highway and the G318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway, two of the most challenging transport corridors in China.
From an efficiency standpoint, the transmission achieves 99.8% transmission efficiency, among the highest in the industry. With optimized powertrain coordination, it reduces fuel consumption by 0.5–1 liter per 100 kilometers, translating into annual savings of over RMB 10,000 for operators. The oil change interval extends up to 1 million kilometers, with only two oil changes required over the product lifecycle, further lowering total cost of ownership.
Rapid Market Expansion
The T-Shift has recorded six consecutive months of sales growth, with volumes doubling during the period and monthly sales surpassing 5,000 units. Cumulative operating mileage has exceeded 1.5 billion kilometers, while the highest monthly mileage recorded by a single vehicle has surpassed 40,000 kilometers.
The transmission is now widely deployed across express delivery, fast freight, general cargo, and hazardous materials transportation. It covers more than 90% of China’s major trunk logistics routes and has gained broad recognition among professional drivers.
Strengthening Market Partnerships
During the event, technical experts engaged directly with fleet operators to discuss powertrain configuration strategies and best driving practices for different operating conditions. The company also recognized outstanding dealer partners with the “T-Shift AMT Market Breakthrough Award” and the “T-Shift AMT Sales Contribution Award,” acknowledging their role in expanding market penetration.

The delivery of the 20,000th T-Shift transmission represents a key step in the commercialization of FAW TRUCKS’ core powertrain technologies.
Looking ahead, FAW TRUCKS stated it will continue to advance its customer-centric strategy, leveraging its nationwide sales and service network to further expand the application of intelligent transmission systems and support the ongoing modernization of China’s commercial vehicle industry.
