FAW Group meets '09 sales target of 1.8 mln vehicles
(chinatrucks.com, Dec.25, 2009)FAW Group has reached its annual sales target of 1,800,000 vehicles for this year. Up to December 9, a total of 1,801,846 vehicles were sold by FAW Group in 2009, the Chinese auto giant said last week in a statement at its corporate website.
In the first 11 months, FAW sold 1,758,808 vehicles, up 23.6% from a year earlier. FAW's Jan-Nov sales include: 1,434,922 passenger cars (up 23%); 164,110 medium and heavy trucks (up 6.8%); 84,101 light trucks (up 41.7%); 66,127 mini vehicles (up 93.3%); and 9,548 buses and coaches (down 6.1%).
FAW Group is a leading global manufacturer of quality passenger cars, trucks, and buses. Established in 1953, the company is China's oldest and largest automotive group. Annual sales exceed one million units.
FAW-VW, Volkswagen AG's passenger car venture with FAW Group, sold 64,853 vehicles in November, second only to the 78,777 units sold by Shanghai GM, General Motors' flagship car venture with SAIC Motor, said China's auto industry association.
Magotan, the flagship vehicle from FAW-Volkswagen, has seen sales grow steadily every month since April. The company has already met its full-year sales goal for the Magotan.
